At Excel, we’re able to leverage our knowledge of patient collections with claims expertise to recover funds from carriers that would otherwise have gone unpaid. Furthermore, our team proactively looks for ways to enhance processes in the future, to ensure that your insurance follow-up results and recoveries will improve drastically over time.

Our team doesn’t just react to denials; we’re proactive in analyzing why they happened so we can help you decrease your denials over time. Our team is constantly looking for trends that can help clients fix internal processes and help us to improve our insurance follow-up service.

Managed Care Disputes

The Managed Care industry claims are the most troublesome type of accounts for most providers to handle because they require a systematic follow-up process. These cases are designed to be tracked by experienced Third-Party Auditors. Our staff is fully trained to understand the contractual differences among the Managed Care Organizations. This is a vital process in overcoming the efforts of the HMO carriers to hold up payments as long as possible.

Excel’s Auditing & Recovery system comprehensively handles the re-billing, processing, and follow-up for all Commercial, Managed Care / PPO accounts. Our software allows the auditors to follow-up claims according to their payors. This approach results in an automated scheduled follow-up list, creating a quicker turn around time for each claim being processed through our system and generates a greater cash flow for your facility.

We accept placements at any point after the patient’s discharge. All cases are handled to a conclusion. Any claim not paid by the carrier will be returned to the facility along with the proper documentation needed to transfer or reclassify the account so it can be processed accordingly.

3rd Party Liability

When third-party liability collections lag, our dedicated team of experts can turn it around.

In cases when not all information is available at time of placement, we will research each account and secure the missing information. This documentation could include ambulance reports, copies of police reports, DMV searches for vehicle or insurance information, etc.

Excel will work and process each assigned account to a conclusion, which in most cases will result in a generated payment. In instances of legitimate rejections by the carriers, the hospital has several options as to how Excel would proceed, such as:

1. Return the account to the facility with documentation and rejection information for the facility to process the claim accordingly.

2. Review the account and the EOB for rejection explanation and process the claim through the patient’s primary insurance carrier if detected, or

3. Automatically transfer any rejected accounts out of 3rd Party/No-Fault financial class into Self-Pay or Patient’s Responsibility and proceed accordingly.

Physician Billing & A/R Services

Whether you are a single practitioner or a large hospital-based group practice, Excel understands your needs. This is why, based on years of experience, we have developed our Physicians Auditing & Recovery Department.

We believe that communication is the key to achieving the results that are expected by our clients. This not only means communication between our staff and third-party payers, but also communication between your staff and ours.

Excel is prepared to assist you in placing accounts for recovery by utilizing trained personnel to act as an extension of your office. When necessary, our staff can be used to pull and copy patient records or update your office records to indicate that the accounts have been placed with Excel for recovery. This service stems from the philosophy based on our experience that once a decision is made to write-off an account to bad debt, our clients should not be required to maintain accountability of the process.

Our auditors are well trained in all areas of Third Party insurance Auditing & Recovery, as well as ICD/CPT coding. Accordingly, we can represent you professionally in matters regarding third-party insurance rejections.

Our offerings are extremely flexible. Need insurance billing and follow-up? We’re there for you. Need some extra hands to help with legacy A/R? We can do that, too.
